He's Crawling

Matthew crawled for the first time today. We were at Great-Grandma and Grandpa Pingel's house, and luckily I had brought my camera. He wasn't in a good mood, so he is crying through the whole first video. I took the second video in an attempt to get him crawling without crying with mixed results.

St. George

On Friday, we went down to Saint George to vacation with Mark's family. His dad was doing some work on the Saint George Temple that week, so his parents rented a house and had all the Utah Robisons come down. Matthew enjoyed seeing his Grandma Robison again, and took advantage of the carpet to figure out how to inch forward. Now he just needs to figure it out on the hardwoods at home. We had a relaxing evening Friday, and then a busy Saturday. We did a session at the Saint George Temple, and then Mark's dad used his pull to take us on a tour of the assembly room on the third floor. It was pretty much awesome. A lot like the Kirtland Temple. Then we went on a short hike at Snow Canyon. All in all, it was a fun weekend, but now I think it's time for Christmas.

This is a super cute photo from the week before.

Yum, Yum, Rice Cereal

We started feeding Matthew solids this week. Of course, we got all the action on camera for you to watch. I have to admit, the video is not very interesting. The first is of my first attempt with him. I love his grimace about halfway through. The second video is of Mark trying to interest him. We realized the next day that we made the rice cereal too thick. He's seems to be enjoying it much more now that we have thinned it out a bit.

Ribbit

I used to think that acting like a frog would make Matthew laugh. Well, the other day, we learned that I don't have to do the froggy hop. For some reason, Matthew just thinks the word "Ribbit" is hilarious. Who would have guessed?

A week at Christine's

Earlier this month, my aunt and uncle took a 10 day vacation to Hawaii. So Mark and I moved into their very nice house for a week, with just one catch: the house came with 3 girls and a dog. It was a very different experience. We realized their master suite is as big as our whole apartment. It was fun having a large kitchen, even though I couldn't find anything, and oh how I miss carpet. Matthew seemed to enjoy our time there. The girls loved him, and spoiled him just a bit. He even took advantage of the carpet and learned to getting on all fours and rock back and forth. Crawling is coming soon. Unfortunately for him, our hardwood floors are too slick for him to get up on his knees.

Matthew helping with the laundry.

Jacob was in town for a wedding, so we had a party. Both Benjamin and Aaron came up, too.

Makenna always wanted to play the card game Spoons. Matthew just wanted to play with the spoons. Once, we were playing and Makenna grabbed a spoon. Lexi and I went to grab the remaining spoon, however, Matthew had managed to flip onto his stomach and had the spoon under him. I reacted first, but accidentally grabbed his toy keys; Lexi got the spoon. Poor Matthew just started wailing because we had taken everything away from him.

Lexi being silly.

Mark tried to take pictures of the girls one evening while they tried to hide. This shot of Makenna was the only one he managed to get with one of the girls in it.

Kaelyn had her first school dance.

Her dress was super cute, and about the puffiest thing you've ever seen.

Makenna liked to hold Matthew, but it always scared me a bit because he's half her size. She was amazing at getting him to stop crying. She would just jump out from behind furniture to entertain him whenever he got fussy.

Matthew playing with his new tractor, a toy I salvaged from one of the bags they were planning to donate.

Lexi was super helpful as well. She would carry him around for me when I needed my hands free, and would even feed him for me.

I know it's dark, but here is Matthew trying to figure out how to crawl.

A Very Merry Half Birthday

Yesterday was Matthew's half birthday! 6 months old already. We had a little half birthday party with half a cake here at my aunt's house (where we are babysitting for the week). Unfortunately, the cake was a disaster. The cake didn't rise and the homemade frosting recipe I used was terrible. Oh well, at least the pictures look good.

Baby's First Snow

It's snowing outside! Actually, it was snowing outside 10 minutes ago, but now I think it is raining. Nevertheless, Matthew got his first glimpse of snow. He seemed rather indifferent, but I was very excited. Mark says that the snow means it's now Christmas Time. A much better holiday than Halloween.

See the bit of water on his head? It was snow.
