The Emerald Coast

The Gulf of Mexico was so different from the beaches we visited in San Diego and Cocoa Beach. The beach was much steeper closer to the water. Basically the waves crashed right where the beach started. We had lots of fun building sand cities and canals. Hannah hated the water, and the sand, and the heat. I finally sat her down on a towel with some seashell pieces and she really enjoyed that. Matthew and Jonah had fun playing in the sand, and the adults enjoyed the waves. The coast really was green. I can see why the call it the Emerald Coast. Mark and Steve also spent a fun afternoon kayaking in the Gulf.

Navarre Beach, Florida

We had a wonderful time in Florida. We rented a three bedroom condo on Navarre Beach. Navarre Beach sits on a long sand bar along the Gulf Coast. On one side is the Gulf of Mexico and the other is the Santa Rosa Sound  - about a mile of water that separates the sand bar from the mainland. We were basically a minute walk from both, and a 5 minute drive from Aunt Katherine's house in Navarre. The biggest down side of our vacation was that Hannah was sick. I think she had Roseola. Regardless, she had a high fever and just wanted to cuddle with Mark and I all week. After her fever broke, she got a rash, which could have just been heat rash for it sure was hot. We had such a wonderful time and took tons of pictures, so there will be lots of Florida posts. As a note, all the pictures were taken by Jaclyn or my dad.

Navarre Children's Park

Just as you turn onto the bridge to Navarre Beach, there is a park with a playground that I noticed. We took the kids over there one evening, and it turned out to be an awesome children's park. The kids loved the playground and the swings. The view of Navarre Beach was lovely, and we took lots of pictures along the pier.
