Easter

We had a low key Easter at our house this year. The day before, I realized I should do something for the kids. Hannah had fallen asleep early, so she missed out, but Matthew and I dyed hard boiled eggs. Then on Easter morning, we did a little Easter egg hunt in the backyard with a mixture of real eggs and plastic eggs. When I was out shopping the day before, I saw the cutest little play necklaces and bracelets. I've been wanting to get some for Hannah, so I decided to get them an Easter present. I was trying to figure out a matching gift for Matthew, when I spotted the tow truck. He's talked so much about the car accident, I realized it would be the perfect gift. Between sessions of conference, we made Eggs a la Goldenrod, which is something Mark's family always made for Easter, but I had never had before. It was pretty good, which is saying a lot since I don't even like eggs.

I found one!

An Eventful Spring Break

For spring break, my in-laws came and stayed with us for a week in March. Elwin had work in Salt Lake, and Diane came along for a nice visit. Our visit started out nicely. Diane and I took the kids to the library and the park. Of course, that was the only time I pulled out my camera. Then in the evening, Mark, Elwin and Matthew went to a Manly Madness function the Elder's Quorum was holding for the men of the ward. Diane and I decided to do a girls' night out, since I didn't feel like cooking dinner. On our way to the restaurant as we drove through an intersection, a car going in the opposite direction tried to turn left right in front of us. It literally came out of nowhere. We smacked straight into the passenger side of their car at 40 mph. Luckily, the other car didn't have any passengers and no one was injured. Our seat belts, airbags, and car seats performed marvelously. Hannah only briefly cried out mostly from fright, and then was perfectly fine. The most traumatized was probably Matthew (Actually, it was probably me. I was definitely in shock, and had nightmares for a while. I was terrified to drive the rental for awhile.) The boys came from their party, and arrived in time to see the tow truck take away our blue car. He still talks about how the blue car and the white car crashed, and the tow truck took away our blue car and threw it away. Our Elantra was a total loss, which given its age didn't take much damage to accomplish. We were so excited to see it reach the 200K mile mark. But, alas, it only made it to 186K. Ironically, almost exactly four years ago, my Honda Civic was totaled - also not our fault - when it had 198K miles.

Being cute

Just some cute pictures and videos of the kids.

Hannah was being cute and making her dinosaur toys roar. However, whenever I whip out the camera to take a video, she always thinks I'm going to take a picture. She stops whatever cute thing she's doing and goes into her super cute take-my-picture mode.

Love that smile.

Diana's Visit

My best friend Diana Corder came to visit me the weekend before last. She currently lives in Colorado, but they just bought a house in Indiana - about an hour away from where I grew up - and they are moving there this summer. Consequently, they decided to do one last visit to Utah to say goodbye to all their friends here. They stayed at our house, and we had so much fun. Matthew loved having Cameron and Abby here. Whenever Cameron had to leave to go somewhere, or when we left the Air Force museum a few minutes before they did, he just cried and cried, "I want Cameron." On Saturday morning, we went to the Air Force museum, and the kids had a blast seeing the airplanes. Though since we visited, everytime Matthew goes to bed, he asks me, "The airplanes aren't getting me?"

On Sunday they went to church with us, which worked because there were no other children in Matthew's sunbeam class that day. The headed out to visit friends Sunday evening, so they missed Mark's 30th birthday dinner. We had Mark's siblings and his cousin Matt over and it was a super fun evening. On Monday, Chad went snowboarding and Diana and I just hung out at the house with the kids. It was such a fun weekend, and I was so excited to see them again. The nice part of them moving to Indiana, is that I'm basically guaranteed to see them every time I go home.

Bunk bed

On President's Day, we decided to move Matthew and Hannah into a bunk bed. The week before, Matthew had broken a support slat on his bed from jumping on it. I was afraid they would damage the crib from jumping on that, too, so we figured a bunk bed would stop the jumping. We originally put Matthew into his room because it was already painted blue and the other room was a horrid pale pink. However, the other room is larger, so I explained to Matthew that his room was too small for a bunk bed. He seemed to take this in stride, and since he really wanted a bunk bed, he was fine switching bedrooms. Mark and I put together the bunk bed without much trouble, and Matthew absolutely loves it. He and Hannah played on it all day. Even though it's been two weeks, yesterday Matthew asked Mark, "Do you want to come play on my bunk bed?" And Hannah has adjusted just fine to her new bed. She wanted to climb the ladder at first, but now she'll only go up one or two steps to look out the window and then she decides to come back down.

Robison snowshoeing expedition

Mark's dad, Elwin, started working on the Historical Site Review of the Salt Lake Temple, so he came in town for a week in January and another week in February and got to stay with us both weeks. He'll be come back basically every month for the next couple of months, so we are excited to be able to see a lot of him this spring. While he was here, he took Mark, Anna and Michael snowshoeing at Alta. I had to decline the invitation because of Katherine's birthday party, which worked out because I had a terrible sinus infection at the time. Mark had so much fun that he decided to get a pair of snowshoes for his birthday. He took me out the weekend before his birthday, and we had fun, even though since we stayed local and since it hadn't snowed in over a month, the snow was super packed on the trail we used. Looks like next winter we'll be in for more snowshoeing adventures.
